Things to take to the hospital

I notice that a common question prior to surgery is "What should I take with me to the hospital?" Most of us have wondered that and most will ask. I was thinking that maybe we could post something on the resources page. It would be a nice place to send all that are preparing because I tend to forget things. I have replied to some of those discussions and then the next day or even after they went in for surgery, I thought of something important I missed. Let me know what you think. We could all work on it together and offer our suggestions.

You don't really need to bring much, but it depends on what type of surgery you're getting I guess. I only spent the day of the surgery, one night in the ICU and half of the next day at the hospital. When my mom left for the evening I found it was very comforting to have a stuffed animal for company :)
