Met with the doctor and will have surgery Wednesday!! Not surprised my csf is blocked and he said my skull was pressing on my brain. Said it was like buying a shoe that was too small but still wearing it!
The only sucky part is I have a 9 hour drive home once I'm released but I guess that's what the drugs are for!!
I will pray for your travel to and from the hospital; for you, and the surgical team. May you have a good recovery and that the pain is tolerable with meds. May the surgeon have skilled and guided hands while giving some relief for your symptoms!
Good luck with your surgery! Bring lots and lots of pillows and blankets for your ride home (and even for the hospital stay) And be sure to take lots of rest stops so you can get out and walk around, really important after any surgery to avoid DVT.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers, I hope you have a very easy and quick recovery
Thanks Wendy! I’m making a list of things for my husband to bring me from home. I didn’t think the surgery would happen so fast. He is leaving NC in the morning to come to NY!
It's actually best when it happens that way. The longer you have to wait before surgery, the longer you have to get freaked about the idea of it lol. :)
I’ll have to get a trash can tomorrow after my pre op appointment.
I really appreciate all the advice/ prayers from everyone. I have the hubby bringing things from home/ my sister downloading some new music for me.
I will try to post an update Thursday or Friday.
Wishing everyone a low pain night. …
The surgery went well. 7 hours but things were a little worse once he went in plus he is a perfectionist, which is good for his patients, not so good for those waiting…Very sore/nausea but getting stronger every day. I came home Saturday afternoon/will stay in NY 2 more days then drive to NC! Thanks for the prayers/suggestions.
Beth, I am so glad your surgery went well and you are on the mend. You should continue to feel a little stronger every day and you will notice that you pay for it when you think you can overdo it. The turtle wins the race with this one, slow and steady! Let your body tell you when to slow down and when to stop, lol.
I'll bet your family is breathing a big sigh of relief too!
Please continue to keep us updated when you have a chance. Also, if you have an opportunity (eventually, when you feel up to it obviously) maybe post your surgery story on the thread I linked below for those who are anticipating surgery in the near future. I know most of us were combing the net for as many personal first hand accounts of what the surgery is like in the days and weeks before we had the surgery, I think it is so helpful to hear from those who have personally experienced it. http://www.chiarisupport.org/forum/topics/post-op-stories-please
