Its finally here - well 11 days away. I've been pestering the hospital for weeks now to get an idea if I was going to be seen in March or April which would be the maximum 6th months waiting time promised.
Yesterday the Neurology Administrator called with the good news.
I said wonderful - put the phone down and felt so ill. My nerves have gone haywire and I couldn't sleep so set of a wonderful headache and emptied my stomach contents the next morning.
So my supportive hubby told me to get to the doctors to get something to take the edge of it or I wouldn't make it through the next week to get work sorted before I went in.
So up goes the Nortriptalin dose and more little blue sleepy tablets. - During the day I'm taking Becalm herbal tablets so I can work. I find alot of things quite funny now. So they must be working.
I know that there is nothing to worry about and things will be better after the op. But I am worried that somethings won't be different. And I worry about the pain of recovery. Then I hear the other side of the brain saying your strong you've got this far. Don't be a drama queen.
How did you make it through and out the other side?
I am glad that you got the news..I can understand your fears/concerns....I took it one day at a time...sometimes one minute at a time..the weeks b4 surgery. I tried to get some things around the house in order during this time...so to keep my mind busy as well as get a few things done.
Come here and let your anxiety out! That is what we are all here for..to help one another! Keep us posted!!
I understand the anxiety about the surgery, although I can say that the pain was pretty minimal after surgery. The worst symptom for me right after surgery was nausea from the anesthesia. You’ll get wonderful drugs for the pain post op, so try not worry about that! Please try to relax into it cause this is what’s gonna help you with the chiari symptoms.
Well its been 3 weeks since the surgery and my first chance to sit down and log into the web.
Im doing - terrific.
I must have had the perfect text book surgery with no complications.
A couple of days of nausea but I was sitting up and getting mobile the next day.
I stayed in hospital for 4 days and was really glad to get home for some rest.
The constant checking every 1/2 hour during the first 24 hours and then down to every hour for the next couple of days really takes it out of you. That was the hardest thing to cope with.
My scar is pretty much healed - really amazing. And no headaches except if I over do it and get tired.
