Last night and today have been the worst since I have been home from the hospital. Walking still feels strange to me and everyday I have had a low grade fever. I still have headaches but they are from my pseudo tumor not a Chiari headache so it is really hard to rate success because I am still dealing with headaches. I have my post-op appointment on Wednesday and we will be discussing shunt surgery. I still don’t have much of an appetite and that irritates my mom to no end she tells me everyday I’m not going to get better if I don’t eat. I’m hoping that by the end of this week I will feel much better.
I hope so, too, Amy. Wishing you the best!
Hang in there. I was out of work for three months after surgery and I had a walker to get from the couch to the bathroom. I had to sleep upright because I had a CSF leak and it was painful and made me dizzy to lay flat. My mother came to stay with my family while I was recovering and she wouldn't leave until she could see that I could make myself food. That ended up being a piece of toast at about a month after surgery. My recovery was very slow and took a lot of mental toughness to get through as I am normally a high intensity, very busy person. As long as your staying hydrated you should be fine. I wasn't hungry either until I started taking Prednisone to stop the CSF leak, but that steroid isn't great for your organs to take for a long period of time.
Just take it day by day and try to stay ahead of the pain. Manage what you are able to manage and don't get discouraged if you aren't healing as quickly as you'd like to.
Amy, you are going through a lot- you are one tough girl. The above post is great- it takes mental toughness and perseverance at times. I second the suggestion to stay hydrated, and so so important to know we are all pulling for your full recovery. Slow progress is normal, setbacks are normal. Just keep hanging in there Amy.
Hugs,
Jenn
