Anytime I workout, walk, heck even when my heart rate gets elevated my ears plug up. I went to my GP who suggested my ears must be dirty. Which I knew they weren't, but lets check. Sure enough they were fine.
Does anyone else get this? It almost feels like water in your ears
Yes…my ears were just like that except it was all the time. It drove me crazy. It finally went away about a year ago, thankfully. I had my surgery in July 2011 and it alleviated some of the pressure. So it took awhile for it to go away, and I hope it never comes back.
I've had this happen too. It usually goes away on it's own. Longest it's lasted is about 4 hours. Haven't been able to pin-point an activity that triggers it, but it does seem to be worse during allergy season which is weird because i dont' suffer from any allergies!
I've used a salon pas patch placed on the skin, just behind my ear if it feels like too much pressure.
Hi Ryan, I don't have Chiari but I do have a problem with pressure in one ear (and tinnitus with pulsatile tinnitus too). Mine seems likely to be caused by fluid build up from a mild infection or inflammation in the middle ear ... and Alicia this can be a mild seasonal allergy response too even if you are not aware of having allergies.
Sometimes I can get it to 'release' by gently massaging in front of my ears or by yawning or holding my nose and blowing to 'pop' my ear (possibly not what you want to do with Chiari unless your doc gives you the ok first). So do ask your doc to take a good look at your ear drum ... apparently it looks opaque if there is fluid behind it. Hope it gets better for you soon ... I'm seven months in and counting :(
Opaque ear drum... I will have to ask the Doctor when I'm in. Last time I was in he said my ears looked fine, I will mention this to him. One of my milder things I'm dealing with but It bothers me so much. With having Double vision(which is kind of better with Prisims), I really prefer not having the world feel muted around me.
I will also try massaging just in front my ears
Thanks Ryan

My symptoms started with ringing in my years and, after a chiropractor appointment, they now feel like what you are describing. I also suffer from dizziness, or what feels more like motion sickness, among an entire list of other things.
Have you been diagnosed with CM?
Hope they figure it out for you, it is very frustrating to feel this way.
I don't ever go to a Chiropractor. My 1st NS instructed me not to do that no matter what. I am CM Type 2, with a meningenoma tumor in frontal lobe and 3 collapsed disk in my back.
I do get the plugged ear and ringing, usually lasts no more than 4 hours at a time. I've found that heat packs or ice packs help a lot. I also get dizzy and have had several episodes now of syncope (passing out without a reason). They don't know why and I use anti-dizziness patches. They give me really weird vivid dreams but help.
I've had my ears checked, no fluid, no allergies. Massage does help.
I just had 2surgeries for Chiari and am experiencing this sensation. Very frustrating and irritating! Prior to surgery I had ringing in my ears which is still there but this is new to me. I thought they were filled with wax but my dr checked my ears and said that was not the issue. Has anyone gotten any answers on this?
