Are these Chiari pillows worth purchasing or can a nice fluffy one do as well?
I am trying to make a list of things to bring to the hospital. I read some people enjoy these pillows but I thought I would ask you all first!

I just had my surgery last week, and I just used a really soft fluffy pillow that my mom brought. I don't know what the Chiari pillows are, but our regular fluffy pillows feel great. It takes a while to figure out where you want the pillow to be while you're laying there, but once you find it, you can stay comfy for hours with just the normal pillow.

I didn’t have any special pillows, in fact have never heard of them. I agree pass them up.
Hi Kurt and thank you for the reply. I found a website that sells these pillows. They look fantastic but if I don't have to purchase one and a regular pillow works, then I am good as gold!

I BOUGHT A MEMORY FOAM PILLOW BUT I WAS HAVING TERRIBLE HEADACHES EVERY TIME I LAID DOWN SO I REALLY CAN’T HELP ON THAT PART BECAUSE I DIDN’T GET RELIEF UNTIL AFTER IN HAD MY SUTURES REMOVED.
I use down alternative pillows. I can squish them up under my head, in between the space where my neck/head are when I lay on my side. I'm a side sleeper. These pillows are the best for me so far. I have Canopy brand from walmart. They're about $11 each. The most I've ever spent on a pillow. But I figured I'd try down pillows before trying the chiari pillow. Plus I could always have my sister make me one if it was worth it but these work well for me.
The memory foam pillows that are contoured...They are not high enough for me. They make my head lay lower than my body. I haven't tried the flat ones though.

I am doing very well. I had a headache today, but those happen. Besides that I have been doing really well. I got my staples out on Tuesday, just in time for school registration pictures. Thank you for your prayers and I’ll send some back to you!

My friend had two chiari pillows for surgery. The first had a half-circle cut out for the incision, the second just had the stuffingless area down the middle. She REALLY preferred the chiari ones and she doesn’t think she could have made the drive home after being released from the hospital (4 1/2 hours) if she hadn’t had it.
