A couple of weeks back there was a post about chest pains. I have had the occasional pains before, and got checked out, only to find nothing wrong with my heart or lungs. They only happened occaisionally, and only for a minute or two. Just after setting out my kids' presents early christmas morning, the pains came back, and have not stopped since. I've been back to the ER, and all my organs are still healthy and strong. They even checked for extra stuff that might cause the problems. They couldn't find anything wrong at all. The pains are still there, left side, not at my heart, but it feels like it is pulling into the ribcage. It gets hot, and radiates up to the neck, or sends a electric shock through the region. That pectoral muscle is very swollen, but no redness or bruising, and I can't think of a thing I've done to injure myself there. The arm still lifts (it hurts a bit to do so) and the pain is really distracting. I'm beginning to think it is just a really f@#$%d up new nerve issue. I'm hoping that is all it is, anyway. I've had muscles lock up on me before, but for this long? Has this happened to any of you, or does anyone have a solutions besides more meds, or alternating hot and cold? Those aren't working for me.
That sounds about right. I'm gonna ask my primary doc about that tomorrow. The funny thing is I'm already on or have found I'm allergic to every one of the suggested meds in that link! What are the odds...
Thanks, Emmaline!
Is it a squeezing pinching pain? I have had it several times and my dr said I had fibro cystic disease. Not sure if that was a true diagnosis as it was told to me before my chiari DX. My tissue over my left upper rib is always swollen also.
Update: Went to the doc for chest pains, and got diagnosed with EDS! Oh JOY!
Still no answers on the chest pain, though...
Finallyhavedx - no, it is more pressure and shock than anything.
I get Occasional Chest Pains. And I use a Rib Belt. it helps to hold your Chest in ,like a hug.so it does not hurt as bad to do things such as Breathe..
I can Understand your Frustrations. Ive had a Very Low back pain for a week now.and Mri of Lumbar did not show anything new that would be causing it..I'm so Sorry you have been in Pain..

Hi Dylan, I get the same thing that you are describing and WOW, it is painful. I've had pains like this in my chest and around my lower rib cage. The doctor put me on a muscle relaxer (Carisoprodol) and it didn't help for the first few days but then it seemed to subside. WOW, was so painful I couldn't even take a shallow breath without being in terrible pain! I don't take the muscle relaxers every day but only when I need it. I have lots of cramps in my thighs and back and when it's really bad I take the muscle relaxer.
