I'm not sure of the best route for me to go is right now. I know I need to change doctors, but I don't know how to go about it, or how long it'll take to get in to see a different NL.
I know the absolute best thing to do would send in the $75 and my MRI images to Dr. Oro, but I'm worried that I'll just be wasting my money and I won't get a consult. Irrational thinking...probably! lol
I have researched other NL's in the area, and I found one that's through the same hospital as Dr. Oro's office is...I think even in the same building. What do you think I should do?
Sorry, I tend to really over think things, and don't want to be waiting around for months again without having a Dr that's going to take me seriously and figure out something to do...especially these headaches.
ETA: Do you have to call and speak to someone at the Mayfield Chiari Center to send the MRI report and questionnaire? What about insurance for doing their priority consult...I have CO Medicaid?
I emailed the patient questionaire and my MRI reports to Mayfield this morning. I am not sure about payment. I will let you know when I hear back.
I did speak with their financial dept last week and they do not take my insurance but if they are willing to see my I may pay out of pocket for consultation and see what my options are from there. It is so hard to need a specialist and have these stupid issues with insurance. Everyone I am "allowed" to see is useless.
Please let me know when you hear back from Mayfield. I would really like to know how it works out. :)
Lori, thank you. I know it's probably the best route to go through Dr. Oro esp since I'm so close to him. I get in my head too much and worry about the what ifs. Hahaha

I got a call back from Mayfield. A nice guy went over my medical history with me and now I need to mail copies of my MRI discs to a doctor there. They will evalute the images and reports and then call me back with some suggestions. The financial counselor said if they want to schedule an office visit that I will have to pay $150 up front and they will attempt to bill my insurance. If they don't pay then they will write the remainder of the bill off. So far they have not mentioned any charge for mailing my info in for review but I'll keep you posted. I'm hoping to mail it out today!
