Last year I was diagnosed Chiari after I had an MRI because my head, hands and feet where going numb and I was having horrible headaches. I have had the headaches for about 16 years now but they are getting worse. I went to a NS, but after hearing about the surgery and all of the complications that can happen my husband and I decided that would be a last option. I would like some relief from my headaches, does anyone have any suggestions for medication, therapy, anything? Also, when I called my neurologist to get pain meds they said they had no appointments until the end of August… Does anyone know of a good Dr. in AZ who treats Chiari?
Hi Stacy-
I responded to a conversation:
Need a NS in NC that knows about Chiari
There is some info there that might be helpful to you. I am in Vegas, & find that we are lacking in the area of Chiari out here. Not what I would have expected.
I have taken my daughter to Dr. Kelly Schmidt, here in Las Vegas, for consultation. I have heard good things about her, but had already begun my search for the top Chiari specialists in the country when I first heard of her. I decided to continue on with the specialists, as we have had so many struggles & I did not want to have to take any more risks with someone I was not totally sure of.
I reread your message & realize my answer might not have been helpful for where you are with your Chiari. Feel free to ignore my info or save it for later reference.
