A Little More Progress

I saw my NL on 9/17. She emphatized with the pain I am in and gave me a referral for a second opinion. I will be seeing Dr, Seth Hoffman at UH Case Medical Center on 10/15.

My NL also started me on Tinzidine (Xanaflex). It helps my fibromyalgia a lot. But it's not a fibromyalgia drug. So, I am starting to think that I don't have fibromyalgia. I was told that fibromyalgia only responds to drugs like cymbalta and lyrica. I don't understand it, but I welcome the notion of less pain.

I was also referred to Pain Management. I see them on 10/30. The first thing the lady told me when I made the appointment was that the office doesn't prescribe narcotics. I had to laugh because if I wanted to get high I could go to any corner in any city and get stuff to get high that is way cheaper than the prescribed drugs.

And my SSI disability case is still being processed. I applied on 2/5. I am trying not to read to much into it, but I figured that if they wanted to deny me, they would have done it already and I would have had to appeal. I had the mental status exam on 8/27. I asked my PCP to refer me to physical therapy so I can get a function capacity exam. She did and it is scheduled on 9/29.

Take care everyone,

Nykki

It sounds like your NL is a good one! I'm glad she's sent you to another NS! Please keep us posted! :)

This sounds crazy but do you eat gluten? I have celiac disease and before I went gluten free I was having 2 cycles a month regularly and my estrogen was all out of whack!

Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley. Sadly it's in so much food...even things you don't expect like a lot of soy sauce brands.

Nikki,
I had an endometrial ablation several years ago. It didn’t involve any cutting and really lessened my period problems.

Glad to see that you've got a good course of care lined up, Nykki, as well as a good NL. I can't speak from experience about the gluten-free diet because I've never had to be concerned about it, nor has it been suggested to me. I hope your SSI case goes well.
