A couple of updates

I see a new NS today and I am overcome with excitement (what the heck is wrong with me lol)

I had weight loss surgery in February of this year. I was 289 lbs. I am now 210. Well I was 206, but I was super stressed and had a sweet binge overload. This shocked the manure out of me because I have NEVER been an emotional eater. Trust me, you will never fix the outside until you fix the inside. I been seeing a therapist (hasn't been working). After hours of googling, I found out that the medicine that they were giving me to prevent my migraines and help me go to sleep (doesn't work) was increasing my appetitie and causing me to eat more than I should. That medicine was Amitriptyline. Needless to say, I'm not taking that any more.

So my rheumatologist has prescribed 25MG of topiramate (topamax). Maybe I can finally get under 200 lbs!!!!

I saw my case manager yesterday and I see the psychiatrist on 10/29. Guided imagery, deep breathing, deep muscle relaxation and all those other textbook solutions do not work on me. With all the stuff that I have to manage, it gets so overwhelming. My moods and my anxiety are going haywire. Most likely I will be put on Wellbutrin, since that's the only one that doesn't cause weight gain.

Current Meds

10 MG Amlodipine (for high blood pressure)

25 MG Hydrochlorothiazide (for high blood pressure)

25 MG Topiramate ( for migraine prevention/fibromyalgia???

16 MG Tizanidine (for fibromyalgia/skeletal muscle pain

25 MG Promethazine (nausea tha comes with meds

5 MG Oxycodone ( when I need breakthough pain relief.

50 MG Diclofenac (for inflammation)

75 MG Amitryptiline ( I got to see how to taper this. Lord knows I don't need to end up in the ER)

I will let you all know how the NS appointment goes.

Take care,

Nykki

I had an appointment with the pain clinic, but my NL sent in the order for fibromyalgia and not spinal stenosis of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar-sacral areas. So, the referral was reprocessed yesterday. I have to make a new appointment. Hopefully, it doesn't take long again.

Glad to hear that you seem to be heading in a good direction, Nykki.

My sister was on Topamax for a while for epilepsy (not sure if she's still on it), and she did lose some weight, even though she didn't need to... she's in pretty good shape. The reason for her weight loss was that she would forget to eat at times (just from having a lessened appetite), so she would set alarms on her phone to remind her to at least eat a snack. I'm sure the weight loss will probably be a good thing for you for several reasons, but if you do find yourself forgetting to eat, I'd recommend you do the same thing she did (setting alarms). You don't want to starve yourself, intentionally or not... not a good thing.

Good to see that they didn't penalize you for missing your appointment. Hopefully you get your images with no trouble, and I hope you're able to reschedule your appointment soon. Good luck to you!
