Couple of questions

Thanks for letting me be a part of this community! When first diagnosed there were really only two sites with any info...yes it has been awhile :) Was wondering if anyone else has trouble with swelling and ears closing up if you eat anything that is not ALL natural? And I always seem to be sick or at least fighting off colds...Have been drug free for 6 years just using herbs and essential oils thought Chiari has messed something up. Had decompression almost 7 years ago. These symptoms going on for almost 2 years. Thanks!

honestly do not know about the vit. D isn't that produced by sunshine....live in Fl. and am outside everyday so...I don't go to the Doc well, really ever unless emergency. Had so many uninformed Docs prior to diagnosis and after too. I will try cutting out these things you all have mentioned. Thank you so much for your help!

Are you gluten intolerant? Anyone with chronic illness is best to stay away from gluten. I even had to go one step further and eliminate all grains. I occasionally eat rice or quinoa, but feel so much better. It really cuts down on inflammation. Inflammation disrupts the immune system from working properly.

How is your Vit D level?

Thanks! I have not ever been sensitive to foods but who knows??? I will try cutting out these things and see. Thanks for your help!

Hi Norska,

Good for you for being natural! I wish I was more committed to it, just get tired and lazy sometimes :)

Do you have food sensitivities as well? Gluten, dairy, nightshades, etc?

Hi Norska,

We are very glad you are here.

I have that problem with all allergies. I carry antihistamines all the time. I have gotten to where I can tell in 10 minutes if I am going to need them. Maybe that is the way your body is responding to allergens or toxins in preservatives? Try an antihistamine and see if it helps. It's the only thing that helps me and I have talked to my adult allergist about this and he agreed. Ask your PCP, they may also have some input.

Thank you. May I ask what antihistamine you use? I usually take zyrtec at night for other allergies but it sounds like you might take something you can use a couple times a day if needed?

Have you been tested for allergies? I thought I had bad colds for years… turns out I am allergic to almost everything environmental!

Norska,

I use Astelin Spray for environmental irritants and benadryl when I have allergy flare ups because I don't need a 12 or 24 hour antihistamine. Benadryl does allow me to use it multiple times a day if needed and is not time released so it "dumps" all the medication at once. A recommendation from my pharmacist, that has worked well.
