In my profile I gave a lengthly background to my families history! My current situation that I would love input on is this… My 4 yr old was decompressed in 2011. In 2012 he suffer from cerebellar slumping and had a reconstruction surgery which due to numerous complications ended in a shunt placement! Then in 2013 they found he had developed 2 syrinx. They performed surgery on that as well. Now in 2014 the syrinx have grown again.
Have any of you heard of this happening (I have been told it is very rare)? What is your experience? Did you have it surgically corrected? What did they do for you?
Thanks in advance for any input!
Laura
Thank you Abby! He hurts A LOT like way more than any 4 yr old ever should. Right now it is head, neck, and knee pain. He doesn't know that the doctor is talking about doing surgery again soon. I'm sure it will be ok in the end but not quite sure how he will handle the news again. I am doing ok (thanks for asking most don't worry about mom as much!) Just trying to wrap my head around where to go from here. I accept the need for surgery but he has proposed a few options and trying to make the best decision is where I struggle. It would be easier if the decision was for myself because I would be dealing with the aftermath! I'm sure in the end his dad and I will do the right thing! Thank you so much for the thoughts, love, and prayers! It means a lot :)
