Syrinx after being decompressed?

Hi Everyone,
Can you develop a syrinx after decompression surgery? Some of my new symptoms are muscle weakness, back pain, feet tingling, earaches. My last Brain MRI was normal according to the ER docs. Thanks for any input.

GREAT QUESTION..I HAVE BEEN ASKING THE SAME THING FOR YRS NOW..I WAS DECOMPRESSED 8/08 AND STILL HAVE BALANCE ISSUES AND LEG PAIN....SO..I FINALLY GOT A DOCTOR TO ORDER AN MRI OF MY THORACIC AND LUMBAR SPINE..THANKFULLY NO SYRIX..I HAD ALREADY HAD A BRAIN AND CERVICAL SPINE mri.

HOWEVER , FROMWHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A DOCTOR IS THAT ONE CAN DEVELOPE A SYRINX AT ANY TIME.

CAN YOU ASK YOUR DOC FOR A FULL SPINE MRI DUE TO YOUR CURRENT SX'S???

KEEP US POSTED.

We were told that the decompression surgery was to treat the extensive syrinx our daughter had because of her CM1. Restoration of CSF flow would shrink the syrinx and hopefully help her shoulder and arm pain. I would think if your surgery was successful then a syrinx is unlikely.

Thanks for your replies. I have an appt Wed. I’ll ask for the spine MRI. I guess that’s the only way to know.
