It has been about six weeks since I have had my decompression surgery. I still have some swelling at the top of my neck that just will not go away, has anyone else had this problem?
Hi Teddy,
I had major swelling because I had to have laminectomies on C1-C6 at the same time as my decompression surgery. The only way I could take pills is with pudding just to get them down. You are still recovering. Have you tried ice packs 20 min. on at a time? Heat will only make it swell more. You can always call your NS and ask how long they think your swelling should last. I don't want you to suffer. Did your incision heal without any infection? Are you having any drainage through your nose or mouth? I know you probably think I am crazy asking you these questions but they may cause swelling. If it is bothering you please call your NS. It's better than worrying. Everyone heals at a different rate of time. Please let me know how you are doing.
Yes, I’m still recovering I have not had any discharge or anything like that its just one spot at the top of my neck that is still swollen. Thank you for the information about the ice packs I haven’t tried that yet I will give that a try.
Once again thank you for the information and thank you for your reply I really appreciate it.
