Hey... so lately I have been having a hard time swallowing.. but I have been able to eat... and drink.. but today.. I cant.. im spitting out my own spit because swallowing is such a struggle.. im not sick.. throat isn't swollen.. no fever.. jjust my normal.. dizziness nausea bad headache and severe neck pain.. I'm 26, having surgery next month.. I have 9.6mm herniation and CSF blockage. Is this something I can wait til tomorrow to call the neuro?? im just worried..and do not want to go to the emergency room again.. I was there last week overnight for fainting and having a HORRID headache nothing would help the pain... oh and to top it off.. my vision is now almost doubled.. but the swallowing is my major concern.. anybody else have this issue? any tips on how to cope?? I am literally spitting my own saliva into tissues..i have sipped on a little water.. but other than that no food or drink today.. I couldn't swallow it.. I tried applesauce jello.. yogurt... HELP.. im going nuts :(
Shelly, I don’t blame you for being worried…what happens if you swallow? Do you choke? Does it just not go anywhere when you swallow? My concern for you tonight is that you don’t choke while you are sleeping. Is there someone with you tonight? If you don’t go tithe ER can you sleep upright in a recliner?

I sleep sitting up every night.. and when I swallow.. I either cough and it goes down the wrong way and I cough.. or it will go don but I really have to focus/concentrate and it takes a few tries.. almost like bad bad bad strep throat but it doesn't hurt.. so it makes no sense.. why me :'(
I’ve had very mild experience with this, so I know what your talking about. I don’t know what to tell you- it should boil down to your safety. Do you think you are safe to sleep with this going on tonight?

I did.. I went in.. theyre scheduling a swallow study..
