Sleep apnoea and difficulty swallowing post op

Hi everybody!

I am 13 days post op… and have noticed some difficulty swallowing (it feels stuck in my throat and have to drink to wash it down)
And what I think is sleep apnoea…

The sleeping issue is only when I am laid on my back. It is always that moment as I sink into sleep and I start “snorting”/ choking for a moment and I wake up. Feels like my throat closes up or my tongue moves further back.

I have never had this problem before surgery. So I presuming this is due to swelling post op pressing on the nerves etc??

Anyone had this as a new symptom post op?

I am 9months out and have had swallowing issues, gag, hoarseness, appetite changes. There’s a nerve that goes from the top of the spine down to the end,it controls all these functions.I’m still hoping these symptoms will go a way,it’s a long bumpy road to recovery but I would do it over again it’s gave me a better life than I had before and I thank God everyday.

Yeah im hoping it goes away in time too… just thought it was strange because I never had these symptoms before my decompression… hmm oh well! X
