I am having my decompression surgery this Friday. So I wanted to tell you all Thank you so much for all your support and all your post that helped me tremendously in so many ways. Just reading your post and sharing your experience has been so much help to me. I will definitely post about my surgery experience as soon as I am able.
You will be in thought and prayer...I brought PJ bottoms with me to the hospital..hate those gowns with my butt hanging out!! Also..if you have a compfy cozy blanket...bring it. I also brought facial/baby wipes b/c you never know where those hospital was clothes have been...LOL
Hopefully you will have a good rommie who is low key...wanna hear something funny?? My 1st rommie was old (90's) she had lots of company and they thought she was a real hoot....at the top of her old lungs she would actually spell out the "F" word!!!! Finally the nurses moved me to a private room...looking back it was pretty funny.

I bet you are getting all you 'ducks in a row' before surgery tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
While in the waiting area..pre-op room....the anesthesia person will make sure you are comfortable before you go into the OR....I had a lady anesthesiologist ..who had just gotten in a biking accident...poor thing was hobbling around on crutches and big ole cast on her leg!!! Anyway..she made darn sure I was medicated well...because for me, waiting in that holding area was a bit nerve racking...so once I saw my NS and we went over what he was going to do..off he went and in came the anesthesiolist ....she was my best friend that day!!LOL....
When I awoke in the recovery room..the nurses were UNREAL....ANGELS!!!!! they made sure my pain was well controlled b4 they sent me to ICU for the night.
Pls let us know how it goes, of course when you can!!!!
Thanks for the info…my last surgery ( unrelated), I went in crying and came out crying…it was horrible! Hoping I get an angel of my own so I can relax!
You are in my prayers and thoughts. Hopefully everything is going well for you. I'm anxious to know how you are doing, so call me when you feel like it.
I am a week out from my surgery. Had it last Friday. Not at all as scary as I thought it would be. They nurse made sure to keep me calm prior to the surgery and then the "medicine man" came in and we spoke a bit. Next off to the surgery room where they put me out. Next thing I know I am waking up in ICU recovery room. The nurses were great! I was talking and feeling no pain when my family came in 2 hours after surgery. I had the surgery done at John Hopkins which is a really great hospital. The staff was just so friendly and nice and helpful. I was kicked out the hospital on Monday. Been home recovering with the help of my mom and 12 year old son. Today I finally felt good enough to type on my computer as I am not taking the meds as frequently.
The surgeon said everything went well and that it was really tight in there. LOL So I am looking forward to getting better each and every day and I promise not to take it too quick and allow myself the time to recover, relax and enjoy.
Kisimi, I'm so happy for you that the surgery went well. I know it feels wonderful to be on this side of the surgery. I hope you continue to do well and have a very quick recovery. Get lots of rest.............
