Hello, friends--
I'm heading in tomorrow morning for my decompression. I am very confident in my surgeon, but also extremely nervous. This site is a great comfort to know that there are many others who are going through this. It helps to know what to expect, but also to know that each of us has a different experience with this crazy condition. I'm hoping to get a little of my old self back--Wish me luck!
Thoughts and prayers your way. My surgery is in three days in good 'ole Texas. I feel the same as you. Keep us posted.
Good luck tomorrow! I'm 8 weeks post-op today and can tell you that the surgery wasn't nearly as scary as I had imagined and I was a wreck going in!

Diana (and redtam!) - will keep you both in my prayers. My surgery is in 3 days, so we can go through this together. :) I was scared to do this for a looooooong time, but finally decided that if I don't try, I'll never know what "could" be. It's natural to be nervous, but just know that we are here for you!

You guys are in my thoughts and prayers...I agree, it is so normal to be nervous..I get stress out over going to get a tooth filled!!!
I had my decompression 8/08....they make sure you are somewhat comfortable before you even leave the recovery area to go to ICU for the night...I felt that was key for me..I let them know just how I felt and the nurses and doc make sure you are as comfortable as possible before going to a room....Be sure to let them know exactly how you are feeling...such as nausea..and pain level...they will give you the right combo right then, was my experience.

Thanks for the good wishes, all! If you are thinking about this procedure, make sure you have a surgeon you fully trust. It’s the key.
