I am so thankful for everyone and their input on this page, so glad to not feel so alone anymore. I have met with two neurosurgeons and have come to the conclusion it is time to move forward with surgery, I am not feeling great about the idea because I am scared to death of something not going right but I just can't deal with all of the ongoing symptoms anymore, it is getting a little too nerve wracking, I feel like I may hold out too long and something really bad may happen. I have an appointment next Tuesday to go over any question I have for before surgery, during surgery, and after. If I am feeling confident that all questions have been answered then I will be scheduling my appointment for surgery, I have never been so scared in my life, I have never been put under anesthesia and I am so worried about my kids and they will handle it all... If anyone has any comments about things that were made easier somehow or things I should all together avoid for a while, anything at all please feel free to share. I hope everyone is feeling well, Happy New Year, I believe big changes are coming soon, I can only pray that they are for the better.
It's natural to be scared right now! What put me at ease was having my neurosurgeon tell me that from a doctor's standpoint decompression surgery is the least complicated surgery he does! Be sure to look at the surgery tips link at the top of this page. There are many great ideas for how to prepare there. :) It may also help you to remember that most people do benefit from surgery. I know you'll encounter some scary stuff online but keep in mind that a lot the success stories have moved on with their lives and no longer need the support these forums offer! I for one had a very successful surgery and I have zero regrets!
hi, I may need to have surgery too. I am so scared just like you. I still cant believe this is happening to me. My daughter is 13 months old so this makes it even harder. Life is also getting in the way alot. My Husband is in the army and hes gone right now and we may have to move soon so that is not easy either. I may have to wait to have surgery until we are setteled in out new home. My biggest fear is also the anesthesia, im scared its gonna make me vomit and be dizzy, these are things that are my biggest fears, not so much the actual surgery. I hope all is well and everything goes good with you.
