I was wondering if anybody has had any problems with their heart after the decompression surgery?
I have an abnormal ekg and the Dr's are not sure what is going on. I had a heart cath done on wednesday after i established care with a new pcp, she flipped out on me about and sent me to the ER.
With chiari you can develop dysautonomia. I was diagnosed with this after my first decompression. I take beta blockers, which help greatly. Read more: http://www.dinet.org/
Many doctors believe there is a link between Chiari and POTS. Lots of us have skipped heart beats and other weird feelings. I usually will have a few when I am getting a headache.
I am going for decompression tomorrow but I have had some heart problems. Cureently I suffer from POTS with is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. I have also had 2 bouts of cardiomyopathy. I am filled with constant fluctuations of BP lowest I ever got was 60/30, palpitations, syncope (;passing out) and near syncope, chest pains, bradycardia, tachycardia, etc. When I talk to my PCP about this he thinks it is all related the POTS, CM and SM. He thinks after the decompression all should be fine but he will monitor.
My advice is monitor and record everything no matter how small or insignificant; it could be the missine piece of the puzzle. Check with you new PCP and/ or cardioloist find out if they know anything about pots or dysautonomias. If you need anymore info please let me know I will answer as best as I can and when I can as tomorrow is d - day.
Thank you so much, It does help me out. I go to my pcp on wednesday. She wants a 2nd opinion so I am going to get one. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow and all will go well.
