Question

I had another MRI this morning. I can see the chiari on the scans, but I don't see a syrinx. I have yet to see the neurosurgeon, or anyone with knowledge about Chiari. I have a question that I think you all can answer. Why do I usually feel perfectly fine when I get up in the morning, and aweful by afternoon? Then even worse later.....by evening, I can barely hold my head up, the pain is horrible, and I feel like I'm drunk.

Why????

Thanks for any input.

Chris

Hi Chris!

I can only speak from experience to say that I did not have a syrinx, but was the second MRI a CSF study? I am sorry to answer your question with a question, but if this has not been done, it may shed some light on why you feel the way you do. You would be able to see if the cerebrospinal fluid is flowing properly to/from your brain, or if it is being interrupted and throughout the day, your symtoms are worsening with increased activity.

Hey Chris!

The exact same thing happens to me - well, I never feel perfectly fine in the morning, but it's when I feel the best. Lying down tends me to make me feel better, so I wonder if it has to do with the way the CSF flows during the day? For instance, I can feel completely horrendous at night and I'll go to bed, only to feel a bit better a little later. Sometimes I even get a second wind that lets me get up for a bit longer.

Either way, hope you find some answers!

Hi...

I am like yourself...as the day goes on I tend to feel worse as far as symtoms go and also get pooped out by 3pm!! Very frustrating ..as it is hard to make plans in fear I will have to cancel them.
