Popping Sound After Decompression Surgery

I was wondering if any of you have experienced a popping sound in your head after surgery. I am 3 weeks post op and I still had stitches in (Just got stitches out today). Anyways, I was drying my neck off gently after getting out of the shower and I felt/heard a popping in my head. It really freaked me out because I had never experienced that before. It was like maybe there was an internal stitch or something that had broke. Not really sure. But I was wondering if any of you had experienced this feeling before? Should I be worried or call my surgeon? I don't want to seem like a hypocondriac!

I had the same thing happen to me and at other times to like when I was moving my head or after laying down, etc. I did call the NS and he told me it was nothing to wory about. He told me it was a normal fluid build up and it should clear up with time. It does clear up mine took a while like about 5 -6 months if I remember right. I am about 1 year out from my surgery.. If you are worried though do not hesitate to call your doc, that is what they are there for.

Thanks Michael for your reply. I didn't feel any differently after it happened, or wasn't in an pain or discomfort so was hoping it wasn't anything serious. Sometimes I wish they would tell you things that could happen that are normal and not to worry about.

I had several episodes of popping when I would open my mouth wide to take a bite of something like a sandwich. It happened several times and I haven’t noticed it since.
