Pain on Left side of head & can't sleep after surgery? Surgery Aug 12th

I'm having more pain on left side away from stiches, my whole left side of head, ear and jaw are tender.

Has this happened to anyone?

Also, I stopped the pain meds as of Tuesday about 1 week post op , they were not taking away the pain and casing me to hallucinate. Switch to starght tylenol with an occasional muscle relaxer. The problem is I can't sleep at all and I'm so tired. I have sjogrens so I dont know if this confusing the issue. But when I get really tired at night all my joints, back , knees elbows etc ache and than feels like a low current electric shock?

Any ideas would help

KB,

Your symptoms sound very familiar. You just had major major surgery and it takes awhile to heal and feel better. Just keep an eye on it and if you start to feel worse call your doctor right away. Once the pain cycle stops it's hard to calm it back down. You need sleep to heal and feel better. have you tried taking either the nuscle relaxer or pain meds right before you fall alseep at night? The pain will keep you up if your body cant relax. If the meds you have aren't working while you recover you can call your doctor and ask for something else. they might be able to give you something to help you sleep if that's your main complaint especially if you are not taking the pain meds. They are reluctant most of the time to give you both because of interaction. The other think you can try for face pain is arnica cream. Rub it on the sore muscle of your neck and your face. Actually anywhere except for the incision. It helps sooth the sore muscles and you can use it as much as you want. Always call your doctor if you have any issues that you need help with.

Ihope you feel better soon and get some sleep. {{{{HUGS}}}} Wendy

Thank you so much - I will try that tonight
