Can someone who have had the decompression surgery kinda explain the pain if possible and do the meds work? Is it like a severe throbbing headache or something else?
I felt like I had done a lot of stretching or yoga and felt tired that way… I don’t remember much pain because the pain I had after surgery was less than the pain I had prior to surgery. I did find that I was a lot more sensitive to noise right after though, like in the recovery room… it was also the first time I didn’t have constant ringing in my ears…
Ok interesting. Thanks
What sbout the vomiting?
I didn’t throw up at all after surgery. Only months later when I got the stomach flu.
I just had second opinion both say surgery. So I got to pray about it and decide who will do the surgery now. I am in Atlanta Ga
No Pain at all after surgery, was tol to expect the worst but I kid you not NO PAIN just neck stiffness . Take meds as directed every 4 hrs. (1yr post op) with NO PROBLEMS !!!
I had no vomiting either just constipation from the meds
I had some pain, but I think it was more the surgery type pain. It wasn't really anything like what I had before surgery.
I also had some light sensitivity for the first few days. I would wear sunglasses in the hospital room plus we had the blinds closed and most of the lights off. After that, it depends on how I am feeling how many issues I have. Florescent light still bothers me some.
I have had more sound issues. Certain tones and pitches HURT. I feel like it is an ice pick on fire is stabbing me through my ear into my head. I also had (getting WAY better) everything seemed so loud. I had to be told several times that I wasn't talking loud enough, no one could hear me but I felt like I was almost yelling.
I had vomiting issues for about a week after surgery.
Now, 4 weeks post-op, I have a headache about once a day, but it is a different type of headache than before and it isn't bad. Florescent light still bothers me. Sounds off and on bother me, high pitched more than anything. I'm still having some swelling issues at my incision site.
But I am doing SO much better. Things are different, but it is a good different. It dawned on me the other day that I actually didn't have a headache, and it was kind of weird and cool all at the same time.
Good luck
I had a very easy recovery. I mostly felt like my neck was VERY sore and stiff and there was a dull ache in the back of my head. I was extremely tired. I wasn't in much pain at all. No vomiting for me luckily!
