As of yesterday, they decided to put my husband back on another steroid after this recent spiral downwards when he finished them. So now he's on Decadron (it's what he had in the hospital) until next Tuesday and then we see the doctor again Friday. If he is still having trouble they may re-admit him to determine why he keeps having problems with inflammation.
Then today I get a phone call from the nurse asking me if he had a long list of symtpoms. I told her he had about 6 of them, but not all of them. She said that he is at risk for aseptic meningitis and she'd let the doctor know about his symptoms. Then this afternoon I got a phone call from the hospital - they've scheduled him for a whole new series of MRIs to be done on Friday afternoon. CINE, craniocervical junction, brain, and spine.
Poor guy is dealing with pressure, dizziness, pain, and more... Thankful that our NS is being proactive, but he now has to be able to handle a 2 hour MRI series. :(
Anyone else have to go through an MRI 2 weeks post op for these things? I'm trying to just stay relaxed and calm.... but part of me is worried.
Did you have one right after your surgery? My fear is it's going to cause a massive headache and dizziness because of the pounding in the MRI, then add his anxiety to that and YIKES!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's difficulty....We deal with this illness for so long, and then have the surgery to get relief, only to experience complications. There are some here that have as well and it's just heartbreaking.
Your husband's treatment will be based on what is going on with him, they know what to look for. Try to remain calm, he's in good hands. The MRI will fine tune what they need to know to proceed. I had one of those 2 hr MRI's. I had the tech talk to me before each series, breaking it down was better for my brain to deal with. If he needs a break, he can ask for one. They will make him as comfortable as possible. Maybe some Valium before?
Keep us updated as to how he is doing, and know that being here is really important for you as well. Glad you're here!
Thanks. He actually is on Valium 5mg 3x a day as a muscle relaxer, and yes, he has a constant headache but it's usually "tolerable" he says. I'm sure this will exacerbate it.
No choice but to advocate for him.... love him to much to sit back and watch.
