New diagnosis and dr visit

My daughter is 17 and was just diagnosed last week with Chiari 1. We have an appt with Dr. Keating from Children's in DC. Anyone have feedback on Dr. Keating?

Keating? Really? Bob Keating is prolly the best pediatric neurosurgeon in the world. I don't know if you read about the cojoined at spine twins Mataeo and Mchale Shaw a number of years back. In any event they were given a less than 5% chance of survival. Keating was the lead surgeon who did the separation (19 hours)

I will tell you he is pretty conservative in regards to surgery and rarely will open the Dura. He doesn't believe in decompression for decompressions sake. He believes in volume measurements. He has a very high success rate. But then that could be because he is choosy. Were it my child I'd want choosy. If a guy like keating didn't want to do surgery, I'd tend to believe him. If he did. I'd go with it......

Thanks so much for the input!
