Nervous Today

So my surgeon told me to expect to return to work after four to six weeks. I'm seeing so many variations of that time on these boards. Yikes! I've also seen mention of testing I better ask him about. The CSF flow testing and for the syrinx (sp?) formation. I know I need to insist on all of this before surgery; yet, I'm so sick and tired. I don't know how I've continued to work. I actually had a decent day until my drive on the way home. That intense headache and pressure kicked in and I threw up all over myself in the car. I know, TMI and disgusting. I just want to feel good again.

So, how long until YOU were back to work?

Ohh, I’m so sorry you are feeling so awful. My surgeon told I’d be ready for full time work at 4 weeks- he insisted it would be that way. I was NOT ready, however, and that caused a lot of undue anxiety. I returned to work at 11 weeks. Everybody is truely different, but the 4-6 weeks sounds a but soon to me. I would tell your boss your shooting for the 6 weeks but be forewarned it may be longer.

I'm so sorry you're feeling bad and that you threw up on yourself :( It's awful having all these things in our bodies going haywire and not having control over them. As of yet I haven't had surgery, so I can't speak from experience about returning to work after surgery. I think it can vary a lot from person to person, but I'm almost certain you would probably need more than 4 weeks, especially depending on what all your job entails. It's important not to overdo it after surgery.

I hope you get what you need soon and have a speedy recovery!
