Hi everyone. I had a question for everyone here, and I am sorry if this isn't the best place to ask. I don't know anyone to ask but the members here, and I think this is where I will have the best results. I have Syringomyelia and am having issues with my left arm, and nerve damage, and I was wondering if anyone else out there who has had nerve damage and lack of feeling, if you have ever gotten a tattoo over that area. I already have tattoos so I am familiar with how they feel, but I am wondering if anyone has experience with getting a damaged area tattooed over. Again I am sorry if this is not a good place to ask, but I just wonder if I will feel it, or not notice it happening at all. Thanks for reading everyone!
I have one on my right upper arm, It did not bother me at the time but I was still not formally diagnosed with cm and sm. Haven't experienced pain in the region where it is, I do not think that it will, But others might hold a different view. I am not going to say it is common but there are cm and sm sufferers who get a zipper tattoo after surgery, no time frame on how longer was ever given, but it has been done.
If anything ask the tattoo artist if maybe you can break up that tattoo into 2 smaller sessions, kinds to test the area and see how it works out. sorry I cannot give better than that, though please let me know how it goes if you do decide to go through with it I might get another if my wife agrees, wh.ich I doubt but just maybe there is a glimmer of hope
Thanks for the reply! I will be sure to let you know. I want to get another tattoo myself, but the area I want tattooed is where I lost feeling do to the SM. I still get some sensations over in that arm, but I wasn't sure if I would feel the normal tatoo pain or not. A zipper is a great idea for a tattoo also, I like that. There is always a glimmer of hope too Michael, it's all in the way you present yourself! Good luck!
