Massage Therapy and Chiropractor?

Can anyone tell me if massage therapy or going to a chiropractor would benefit me or do more harm??? I have not had surgery. I have no insurance and nothing medicinally helps with my pain, so I am desperate to find some type of relief even if it is only for a short while. Are any of these options safe? I use to get massage all of the time for my neck and shoulder pain and even had them work on the base of the back of my skull by my neck because of the constant pain and pressure.....I did this for many years before I even found out I had chiari last December. I want to get my neck and shoulders worked on really bad, I am tight and tense and I think it is increasing the frequency and intensity of my severe headaches. Can anyone give me some advice? Until I get insurance, I have to find a way to endure because this condition has totally diminished my ability to do things in all aspects of my life. I am hoping to have insurance by the end of June.

Thank you! I was very leery of the chiropractor! My husband is a very good man, but he got upset when I requested to have a massage because of what a "luxury" he thinks it is. He thought a chiropractor would be better because he thinks massage therapists are quacks. He just doesn't understand that licensed massage therapists (most of them) have to take anatomy classes and have medical forms you fill out beforehand as well. I just want an occasional moment of relief....which is never honestly. I get relief or a break from pain when I sleep, and relief from a massage. I am going to get one tomorrow....hopefully it will alleviate some pain for a few days even though I know it wont completely take it away.....honestly I havent been pain free, dizzy free, or nausea free since I was about 14. At least I know I am not a hypochondriac like everyone thought I was for most of my life!
