Insurance Approves HALF of Surgery?

Hi. Well, my insurance just approved the decompression and not the fusion for the CCI. Dr. wants to go ahead with the decompression as the insurance is wanting to try the most conservative measures first (least they have to pay for…). He said they would likely approve the fusion once it is shown the decompression is not enough. ???
I don’t want to have to go through two surgeries. :frowning: . I’m not sure what to do. My husband says to go ahead with the decompression.

Oh my gosh Rebecca. I think may be you should take some time to think about this. What are your appeal rights? I think we ALL get three appeals no matter who the carrier is. I’m so sorry this must feel like a blow and so close to your date. How are you taking this? How do you feel about it?

I would Google your state’s “insurance commissioner.” You can send in a complaint and they will help you mediate your insurance company. They help with insurance “issues” of any kind. Many people do not know about this resource. They help regulate insurance. The insurance company has to respond to them because they regulate insurance companies. Great resource if you are not getting the help you need, I’ve used it myself.

I just don't understand why they aren't approving this for you. Are they saying why it's a denial? :( I agree you should try the insurance commissioner.
