In so much pain - im suffering

Im traveling this week. Im from FL but in Las Vegas for biz. Im on a muscle relaxer and antiflammatory for obe week now in order to function. Im so scared bc we still havent found a good neuro who understands chiari. I was in an accident which triggered this nightmare of pressure and pain. Im sitting up in bed in tears. My pain suddenly got worse tonight. Ice packs name it. I have to attend a conference for my job in less than 5 hours. I also have a history of arrythmias which now makes some sense why. I feel like my heads going to explode and i cant even lay or turn my head to the right side, where my pain is. Im worried i need to be seen by a Dr but i fear they just wont know what to do nor understand. Any good neuros in Las Vegas? Florida? I did find Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl. My final option. In the meantime, im afraid to tell my bosses at work what im going thru. Only 2 coworkers know. Im scared and suffering so bad. I have faith and trust God but i need medical care. Thank you.

What city is Trumble in?

Barth Greens partner blew me off. He wasnt recommended - old school?

Jozy what is obe? I know the pain you are going through. I know I have chairi but do not have my dx. I too had a car accident in 1998 and a bad fall in 2009, which has resulted in me having a C5-c6 spinal fusion. In the past year I have learned of Chairi and knew immediately that I had all the symptoms. I wondering now why the orthopedic surgeon did not look deeper into my neck hernitation to check for chairi... Have you had surgery yet? I have to take pain meds at night to lessen the pain and to get some sleep. I don't know if I'm taking the right medication. I'm praying for my dx soon so I can see a NS.

Take Care and God Bless you!

Jozy,

You need to see a Pain Management Specialist and a good NL. Is there a pain Clinic in your area? Do you have a good PCP? We can help you find some great Dr's in Fl if you need some help. I am sorry you are having so much pain, but truly understand.

Dr. Trumble is a Pediatric NS. I am sure he could make some great recommendations for adults in Fl.

Jozy~

My Chiari was diagnosed in Fort Myers, Fl by Dr. Jaime Alverez. He was great... Dr. A isn't a Chiari specialist, but he has done many decompressions. He was trained by a top pediatric Chiari specialist. I didn't end up having surgery this past winter as my symptoms were not severe enough. Now I'm back home in Vermont with my symptoms getting worse.

Dr. Alverez left it up to me and he never pushed for surgery. I liked the technique he suggested. He uses a titanium plate which is supposed to help prevent post-op headaches and gives your neck muscles something to adhere to when they heal.

Is there anyway you can get pain meds? I've never had luck with muscle relaxers. I take dilaudid for pain as needed. It works well, just need to be careful as it is VERY habit forming.

Best of luck and I hope you get some relief soon.

Sue

I'm in London England so have no idea about Doctor's in the area you are in. Sorry! I just wanted to encourage you to tell your work as the stress of not saying is only adding to your discomfort and pain.

I totally trust God that I will be healed we must also use wisdom, faith without works is dead! God put doctor's on this earth to help us so we MUST use them.

I'm having a shunt put in in a few wks....oh please God let this work.

Take care..

I have taken midrin for the same symptoms you have and it worked beautifully and fast! Is expensive tho. I have stopped lifting anything over 10 lbs and symptoms have eased. I am also on inderol for heart palpitations and it has reduced severity of headaches. Most of all, stay calm, try to relax, be open about your condition. All these things will reduce you stress and some symptoms. Wish you luck…

Ask for a prescription for Gabapentin. You might want to start with a low dose of 100mg twice a day. I do not have chiari, but my granddaughter does. I have nerve pain from fibromyalgia and am also a diabetic Type 2. This medicine has helped my symptoms with nerve pain in so many ways.

Dr, Trumble is primarly peds. but he did my surgery back in Jan. He is an excellent doc and does take on some adult patients. I am very greatful for all he has done for me. I had some complications and they re-operated in March to close a CSF leak that I developed. Doing much better now.

Tracy he is pediatric but he has mentioned operating on a woman. And I think he does do some adult cases. We should probably check on this. I do have him as my in case of emergency while in Florida and he had no problem and gave me his hospital. Hopefully that will not be how we meet in person though. Lol. I think he is listed as pediatric as it shows extra training and education since smaller is more difficult bigger should be easier - I think? He is listed as ped but I do think he does adults - we should check - now ya got me questioning it but I did ask him where he practiced if I had an emergency and he didn't say don't bother I am peds so I did just go with the assumption
