Just got lab test results indicating possible hypothyroidism, w/ some other highs and lows. Anyone know if hormone levels are greatly affected by Chiari? Also had a really low Alk Phos level, but don't have any "stomach" problems that are usually indicated w/ that...
from a guys point of view my pcp stated he doesn't know why my testosterone level dropped without any explanation. Also my daughter has question hormone levels and she is currently being evaluated for CM. Her pediatrician thinks it is very possible
The other level you mention don't know. Don't know if this helps or confuses the matter more but I will be asking my doc at the next appointment
Thanks Michael... I read your post earlier and I think you should report those happenings to your Neurologist or Neurosurgeon. Alot of my seizures have occured in my bed or while I was resting, so it's worth mentioning.

Hi..I have hyperprolaction...and it had been affected by my chiari. I take a really fun drug called dostinex for it. Horrible side affects that mimmic Chiari..ie dizzy, slurred speech etc. How the chiari affects it is that I am on a high dose of dostinex but my hormone levels are not coming down. Normally with prolaction they would be looking at surgary etc at this stage to sort this out but becase of the Chiari they think it will be pointless. In the endocrine clinic I attend they believe that my chiari is pulling on my pituitiary and is causing me to have the hyperprolaction so that no treatment directly for my pituitiary gland is not going to work.
good luck with your thyroid!

Thanks Abby! :)

Thank you! :)
My hormone levels dropped, in fact I am getting hormone injections as my testosterone is so low.
My testosterone levels are very low as well, Meeting with Doc next week to start treatment.
I have no idea whether it is related to my Chiari or not, but I have rather nasty hormone problems too. I have to use a hormone replacement patch to keep my estrogen levels up, they're at menopausal levels even though I'm only 23. I've also found that when my hormones fluctuate, my Chiari symptoms get much worse. My neurologist says this is common, but they don't know why.
