Going to the ER for the pain....?

I have been to the ER a lot latley because my medicine is not working. If I don't take my medicine, my pain is like a 9 out of 10.. But after 3 days after the ER my pain even while being on the pain medicine goes up to a 9.... I am on Tramdol and Ketoprofen.. They do not work very well... I am not sure what to do, because none of my medicine is keeping up with the pain.. The ER only brings my pain down to a 7.. Anyone have suggestions?
Have any of you gone to the ER for the pain?

I'm in the E.R. all the time. The worst part is that I work at the hospital, so I know everyone there and I always feel like they're looking at me and saying "Wow, she's here again!" But at a certain point, I can't worry about what anyone else thinks and neither should any of us. The only thing that helps me when I'm in that much pain is 2mg of Dilaudid through an IV.

Have you tried to find a pain specialist or a PCP that will help you? Chiari is very complicated and many doctors don't understand or take our pain seriously. Most neurologists aren't helpful because they don't see enough Chiari patients. I know you are young but if you can find a PCP that treats elderly patients they usually have more experience with treating pain. Have you contacted the Chiari Center in your state? They might be able to point you towards a doctor to help you. You deserve to have your pain under control.
