My NS appt is Tuesday. It for my almost 3 month check up after surgery. I'm still no better off than I was on July 9th. I'm awful in the mornings...swimming head, visual issues, anxiety. It's like I have to even out for a few hours before I can function halfway normally. So if I have POTS, and it seems to be pointing in that direction who was the one that diagnosed it? Will my NS? Do I have to go to my PCP? Or a neurologist? Today I was lightheaded until I put the air conditioning on...then it seems to get better. I cannot tolerate heat, humidity, or storms. I can't stand still...walking is ok on some days, but standing in line somewhere...that's a no no.
Back before surgery, I've had graying out periods, and tachycardia upon awakening in the morning, and double vision. And the lingering anxiety, but just in the morning. I haven't had any graying out periods, or tachycardia since surgery.
You could try doing a poor mans tilt test. Just google it.
I take credit for figuring it out. I found Cleveland Clinics Syncope Lab. I saw a Cardiologist that was a Dysautonomia specialist. I also saw a Neuro but none of them have been of much help. Let me know if you have any questions.
I had major issues post surgery. I saw a cardiologist and he decided against the tilt table test due to it being such a rough test. He didn't want to make me feel any worse. He did dx me with pots though by just going over my symptoms. It started to get better around 5 months. It had been so bad after surgery that I slept more than I was awake. It was aweful. Glad that is over. I'd mention it to your neuro and pcp. My NL is who sent me to the cardiologist.
Since I had taken myself to him and made contact he was more than willing to run test to at least rule it out. No ruling it out, I tested positive for Dysautonomia. My Neuro or cardio will allow me to use the term POTS in the office. I'm supposed to use Dysautonomia.
My tilt went the distance and my bp and hr were all over the place they said. They also did a sweat test and I failed that as well. They did a number of other tests but those were the two I failed.
