I am 2 weeks post op today and I still get a fever every day. In the morning it runs around 99 but as the day progresses so does the fever. It has gotten up to 101.6. I went to Dr., which sent me to E.R. last Friday and they did a complete workup with exception to a lumbar puncture (they said the fever was not high enough to do this at the time and I had no other meningitis symptoms). They found I had a UTI and thrush in the mouth, these are both gone now but I am still having the fever. Has anyone else has any issues with this? I know if I go back they will automatically do a spinal tap which I am terrified of, I am a big baby lol.
I hate UTI's and know they can sometimes be hard to get rid of, especially when your body is going through other issues. Are you on an antibiotic for the UTI and thrush? How long has it been since you got them?
sorry it has taken me so long to write back, I have been sleeping a lot lol. I took antibiotics for both the UTI and the love mouthwash for the thrush (YUCK). I have finished all the meds and both issues have resolved. I am sure the infections were from the catheter and the tube while I was out. I also had a nice huge sore from where they removed the tube from my throat and ripped a chunk of my tongue ( I thanked them ever so nicely for that one)
I am still getting the evening fevers but, again, they are not real high. I have been to the doctor and had a full set of tests and they found nothing so who knows what is going on.
I still want to sleep all the time, whether it is still from healing or just the fact that I am still restricted on activities and just bored.
One other thing I didn't mention. Last week at my post op appointment they did a CT and he told me I had a small pocket of fluid buildup but he was pretty sure that my body would absorb it. I guess maybe this is normal?
