Eyes swelling

Does anybody else have eye swelling when a migraine is about to start? My eyes are swollen almost everyday now. And I can feel the pressure in my head constantly and the eye pain can be unbearable sometimes. I also have a ton of other symptoms; such as muscle weakness, fatigue, knees buckling, hand shaking to name a few. Hopefully decompression surgery will help with all these symptoms! :crossed_fingers:t3:

Hey Mrs.Awesome,
When you say ā€˜ā€¦eye swelling when a migraine is about to startā€¦ā€™ are you talking about pressure in the eyeball itself or pressure behind the eye?

I too get pressure behind the eye and at times it can be just SO intense, as if my eyeball is going to pop from itā€™s socket and the pain and nausea can be extreme to say the least. All of your other symptoms you have listed are common with many neurological conditions and surgery may help, but the healing from any neurological procedure can take quite some time. You may be lucky enough to get some symptomatic relief fairly quickly, but some symptoms can take a while to resolve. This is all a slowly, slowly when it comes to neuro recovery. It can take some patience (something I have very little of when it comes to pain), but I am learning. Slowly.

Thank you for replying. I have the same eye pressure you described. It feels like my eyes want to pop out. Iā€™m hoping that there will be some relief after surgery but I know it will take time to recover. I hope you are able to find some relief as well. No one should have to experice this type of pain and agony. :purple_heart:

Ohh, believe me I do agree, but one of the problems with many rare conditions is that often theyā€™re invisible. We can be MASSIVELY symptomatic on the inside, but outwardly we look fine. Sometimes others outside of this reality have very little clue. I have in the past tried to explain it to others and at times Iā€™ve gotten ā€˜that lookā€™, like Iā€™m an alien with 3 eyes, like Iā€™m exaggerating, when really Iā€™m actually minimising the full extent. Or my pet hate, they feed you that line ā€˜Ohh it canā€™t be THAT badā€¦ā€™ Ahhhggg

I hope the surgery gives you the relief you seek. Post surgery, patience is key and LOTS of it.

Yes, my eyes do feel this way, especially for the last 2-3 days and Iā€™m trying to figure out why. I donā€™t know if it is from my chiari or not. My eyes hurt and ache and feel like there is pressure there, kind of feels the way they feel when I have a fever(which I donā€™t have). They often feel this feverish way but never to the degree they have in the last couple of days. Itā€™s like a headache behind my eyes. Since my chiari is ā€œborderlineā€ and ā€œstableā€ itā€™s pretty much ignored by the doctors. :grimacing: :grimacing:
