Yes...I had surgery Wednesday, April 3rd was sent home Saturday, April 6th...the toughest thing is learning to sleep at a 30 degree angle on the recliner...a friend of mine is getting me a pillow wedge to place on my bed soon...
My surgery lasted 5 hours...CSF flow was completely BLOCKED...but I had no tumors or synixs to worry about. The dr gave me a "anit-nausua" patch (it helped me lots..it kept me from getting so sick with the head pain)...and tummy shots were for keeping me from getting blood clots (this I didn't know was done...this is my first major surgery..so it was kinda of a shock when nurse would come in and say it's time for your tummy shot)
I was in ICU Wednesday to Thursday 4 pm...at that time I was due another round of pain meds but was put on hold because they were trying to get the pain pump fixed up for my room...so I had a HUGE headache from 4 pm to 11:30 pm...it hurt so bad I felt like I was going blind from the pain...but after that it was controlled....by Friday evening I was allowed to assist myself to the bathroom (but I had family with me so I felt comfortable with it)...Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy was so surprised with how strong I was AFTER surgery..
Now that I am at home I am taking it easy...try to get up and stroll inside the apartment every 4 hours to keep from getting too stiff and to keep the digestive system running :)
Thanks for your support and and the ladies from our Hog Wild Chiari Facebook page I was able to be kept informed and calm thru the whole surgery procedure...now it's time for recovery :)
