I have been in the hospital twice for what was called a complex migraine. It has symptoms of a stoke, which is what I thought I had. Im curious if this is a norm for people with Chiari or if its just something else I have.
No It more like the entire left side goes completely numb. Actually the first time that I went in I had not even had a headache for a couple of days. My speech was slurred and my whole left side was limp. Thought I was having a stroke. Ive had more and am supposed to go to the hospital each time to ensure that it is not a stroke but I have not gone again except once.
I have had the exact same thing with migraines. They said it was like a stroke too. I could basically not walk, slurred speech, blurred vision and pain like no one should have to experience. I had months like that back when I was diagnosed in 2005.
I believe chairmans must have more intense migraines than “normal” folks.
I have Complex Migraines. The first one I had I thought I was having a stroke. You know what you want to say & something crazy comes out. I have told all my friends and family about them in case I have one around them. I am sorry if you have them also. They are totally different than any other type of headache. I don't think anyone can understand unless they have experienced one. The pain is unbelieveable & light sensitivity is really bad for me. I don't scare easily, but these are scarry. You really feel like you are having a stroke.

Tracy and Sbedross, oh Im glad to meet someone else that has these. Im sorry that you do but this is something that most dont understand. I sat the first time in the ER thinking I was having a stroke and crying so hard. That time I was admitted for 3 days. It is scary. Whats even worst is that they can lead to a stroke. That is why I have been told to go to the ER every time I have one. Honestly, I havent though. Just two times. What have you been told about them? Can they be part of Chiari?
I have only been told they are called Complex Migraines & my Dr. agreed with the symptoms, but never told me they could cause a stroke. I believe you though. It is totally like you are having a stroke when you are in the middle of one. I will definitely go to the ER from now on. Thanks Alyson !!!
