Anyone know of a Chiari specialist in or near Poughkeepsie, NY? Google isn't helping to much ! hah
I didn't see any replies so I wanted to check and see if you had any luck finding a Doctor. Of course everyone has different opinions and not everyone is going to feel the same way so I will just tell you what I've heard since I live across the country from you! :) Dr. Heffez in Wisconsin is known to be the best with Chiari. The nurse for my School District grew up in Minnesota and said that the MAYO clinic there is where she would go (if I were to travel there). I know there are some Doctors with lawsuits in the New York area because they were doing surgeries on people that didn't need it. There is also a list of Doctors on this site that have been recommended by people here. All I can say is trust your instincts if you don't like the Doctor get another one. Speaking from experience with Doctors over the years, if they don't listen to you...run, don't walk! ;) I will tell you what my friend who worked with Dr. Ellenbogen here in Seattle said: You know your body best, there is a reason why they call it a practice. What I loved about Dr. Ellenbogen is he is not quick to cut. He won't do surgery unless he feels it will help, as miserable as you are now you definitely do not want to be worse. Hope this helps and good luck with your search. Also I put the name in google and look at the sites that people "grade" their Doctors on to see if there are any red flags...
