Guys...the headache of course is here...but what to do about this shortness of breath? and heart palpitations?? I have to concentrate to TRY to breathe slowly..Does anyone have any advice for me? This gets me nervous!
I mean, It is almost constant with small breaks here and there.I am making my appoint for Jan to see the NS but what to do in the meantime?
If you are having trouble breathing it may be caused by something other than Chiari. Please go to the ER or call your DR. This is very important especially with you telling me earlier you have been having chest pains also. It's much better to be safe & get checked out.
I would suggest you call your primary about these Sx's..I personally, never had issue with shortness of breath..only when I was very upset and hyperventilating...But I did have rapid heart rate that would come out of nowhere and last only a short while..then back to my normal HR...this went away right after surgery and has never returned.
I have shortness of breath also. I was just to my PCP yesterday and they performed a few tests to rule out an impending heart attack and blood clots in the lungs. Please see your doctor. At the very least, it will rule out any heart issues. My PCP seems to chalk it all up to anxiety but then set me up with an appt with a pulmanologist. I am also seeing cardiology on the 7th to be put on a holter monitor. My NL is looking at POTS for the diagnosis. I am glad that I went to my doctor and had those tests done. The negative results made me feel better.
I,ve had surgery 7wks. Ago and am having breathing problems, swallowing, and my voice has been effected.Has anyone had these things afterwards? GEtting worried because it is lasting so long…Help!!!
I am still having problems with shortness of breath, swallowing has improved, but my voice has still not come back. These things may be here to stay It’s getting hard to believe it’s not gone by now.My surgeon said it would probably pass in time but that was three wks.ago.I think I will call him back and see what he feels I should do.
I have improved, but still my breath has not completely returned, there’s still a voice loss.I’m hoarace and it is bad sometimes, then better other times. My ns says to wait a little longer,it can be related to brain changes. The decompression is almost 4 months out, please don’t think this surgery will answer every problem,in my case it’s still a waiting game to see how much it will work.I would do I it over again for the changes I have had,I thank God everyday for Dr.Rosner,if not for him there would have been no help, not one ps that I had seen could see anything.God sent me a Dr. who is pioneer in this field,I would recommend him to others,he is located in N.C. You have to stay possitive and know there’s no real cure for chiari,we can keep this condition in the spot light so we can help others.I can’t believe I have gotten help when the odds were not in my favor, only God has helped me to find the right ns.Even now not one person in the medical community in 27 yrs.of hell will agree with this decision,I stepped out on my own with much prayer. There’s lots of things I wished were better, but there’s hope now and that’s very big!!
