Worsening

i have undergone the decompression surgery last may. also have had c2 and c3 nerve taken out bilaterally. the past 4 months the pain and symptoms have become progressively worse. i just finished my third physical therapy session. apparently i have TMJ, nerve involvement and severe tension in neck, shoulders and back. among other things such as spine turning one way and ribs the other. unfortunately the test for benign paroxymal positional vertigo they started i was unable to finish due to severe nausea and severe pain. so all they have done is massage and some infrared light therapy.

anywho the problem seems to be a strange pickaxe sensation in right side of head behind eyeball that seems liked im being axed for 2-3 minutes at a time then lessens for a few minutes and then starts back again. i find this on top of my already severe headaches shall we say extremely bothersome. it will take me months to get in to my NS and neurologist just upped my dose of inderal and put me on a medicine called cambia... while this works very well on the migraines i also get 4-5 times a week it is also out of my price range at $400 for 9 packets.

Anyone else have this pickaxe feeling and more importantly have you found something to get rid of it????

Always,

I had that pre-op. My NS said it was due to a complete blockage of CSF flow causing increase intracranial pressure. That is EXACTLY how I described it, an ice pic. Have you had a CSF Flow study recently? For flow problems, no pain meds (narcotic or otherwise) or any other type of "headache" medication even made a dent. Hope this helps!

No csf study done since before the surgery. Am on alot of meds that are supposed to prevent headaches and help nerve pain.... although i am not on narcotic or any type of pain meds i did recently have a wisdom tooth pulled and had leftover pain meds, they did not help with the ice pick pain. Am in physical therapy now but i have so much wrong they just massage me and thats too violent and causes more pain.
