I had decompression surgery in august 2012, my headaches are worse, ice pick headaches terrible, seems like all my symptoms are worse. Amyone know what’s best for these pains?? I go see my NS tmrw but I’m worried he wont understand (again) how bad I’m feeling and tell me (again…) it’ll get better. Please help, this is terrifying.
Allison,
I am sorry you are still in so much pain. So many nl don't understand or listen to us. Everyone is different and certain meds help some but not others. I take Zomig for my headaches and it works well for me. I know that others take Topamax and find good luck with that. You definitely need medication. Some neurologists are hesitant to give meds. You may have better luck with a PCP and it may take going to several before you find one that will listen to you and take your pain seriously. You should ask about having a follow up MRI and a CINE MRI to make sure that your CSF flow isn't blocked. You deserve to be listened to and your symptoms and pain to be treated. We are here for you.

Ill jot those down, thank you! saw my ns today he wasn’t listening to me, he was saying its fine, they’re just everyday headaches I asked for an MRI and I’m waiting to hear back for the appt. I’m having some drainage in my ears and read it could be csf? Have you wver heard of that being a side effect? I’m thinking the fluid isn’t flowing right and is building up in my brain
Allison,
Is it wet fluid from your ears? If it is that doesn't sound right. Some of us have fuid sounds in our ears but I don't think it should be actual fluid. Do you ever have a funny taste in your mouth, like salty or sniffles and/or running nose? Did you tell your doctor about the "drainage"?

Allison,
You really need to see a Pain Management Specialists or a Neurologist. Most NS tell people that are having problems post surgical that they did their job right & basically can't help us unless we need additional surgery. Do you have a good PCP that will help you with pain mgmt. until you can see someone else?
I also had a CSF Leak. You definitely need to call your NS. Mine drained from my ear to my mouth. It is very salty. Much saltier than sea water. Please get it checked it can lead to other health problems.
I brought it up today. And he said its not from chiari my pcp is great, ill have have to see about seeing a nl. This is the most frustrating crap ever.
He also wouldn’t give me any pain meds, scheduled an MRI though. So glad I found this site
Thanks so much.
Yeah its liquid, usually sniffing and runny nose, yes. Ears very itchy too.
Allison,
None of us can diagnose but it sounds like you really need to call your NS and if they don't take you seriously make a fuss. If they still don't take you seriously go to the ER. A leak can be extreamly painfull and can lead to infections. They should do an MRI or CAT Scan right away to find out if it's a leak. It would explain why you feel so terrible and even if it isn't they should take your pain and symptoms seriously. Let us know....I am praying for you.

Ill keep y’all posted had a decent day today until I tried to do laundry, then came the “ice pick” headaches and ears popping.
