What Would You Do?

...... If you could have "Just One Day", without the Pain ?

Just something to think ( or dream ) about.

I would spend the day like Tim Mc Graw's song says and "Live Like I'm Dying." I would dive and swim and run and work out and dance.I would pack everything possible in every second and spend it with my 20 year old daughter so she would remember what things used to be like. Thank you for a great Dream and Smile !!!

The things i use to love doing,Horseback riding, bowling.

One day without pain to me would be like having a whole new body experience... like I've been given a new body. I long to know what's it's like to not feel pain everyday and to be able to do things, like going back to work, and enroll in a school program knowing I can finish it and feel good about myself, take care of my garden, learn to play the piano, take voice lessons, take a sewing course, run as hard as I want, hike with my husband, play a sport, jump, be like a little kid.. As far as I can remember, I could never do any of these things without pain and having to stop, and not understand why I felt this way. Sometimes I think perhaps I would be better off if paralyzed at least I would feel no pain... Only by the Grace of God I get through everyday. I have tears streaming down my face right now..., I soooo want to be able to do some of these things before I leave this earth - One day God promises a new life in eternity where there is no more pain or suffering, I long for that day to come.

I would ride roller coasters all day long. Also in my hypothetical scenario I would be able to eat all the gluten I wanted with no ill effects! So I would ride roller coasters and eat! haha

I would be the most active I have ever been. I would go for a bike ride and walk around Monterey.

One day..oh what a great dream. If I had just one day I wouldn't stop until I fell over from pure exhaustion, but it would be great. I would not waste my day doing normal chores and housework. I would run and walk...everywhere. Just because I could. I would go out and sit in the sun and listen to music and sing as loud as I could. I would hike and bike and a horseback ride would be grand. I would go to the movies, play some baseball, go to a amusement park to ride all the rides. I would feel just like a kid again...unstoppable, full of life and I know, by the end of the day...the only thing that would hurt would be my face from smiling. Oh what a dream...

Well, I can answer this with some good insight as well as some good ol’ dreamin’. I was decompressed 7 weeks ago and my NS told me my Chiari headaches and related symptoms should be much better if not gone (the man has a super God complex and now I am seeing it’s well deserved!) I have had headaches, neck and back aches since I was 11 (now 36) and I have been pain free since the surgery recovery process settled. I was shocked and not sure what to with myself! Due to the surgery I still have a level of exhaustion that I cannot explain to non Chiarians! But worth all the trouble of surgery for my new pain free life! Living life at a 10 plus on the pain scale for so many years becomes a way of life for us, not a pleasant one but still what we have to live with. And to have that gone is a miracle! I almost don’t know how to live without the pain but am over the moon the have the chance to do so. I know that a super small percentage of you guys are as lucky as myself and I feel your pain and struggle. So what will I do with my new pain free days…LIVE! Finally live a life that does not revolve around my chiari and pain meds (that were no longer working anyhow) My dream would be that all of you could see my NS and get the same result, he did some cutting edge stuff inside my noggin and God complex or not he gave me my life back. Wishing all of you the success I had and praying for each Chiarian everyday!!! Love you guys!!!

I would go and play softball and sand volleyball and have a dance-a- thon...I love dancing :)
