Trying to learn

Hi everybody I am pretty new to all this so sorry in advance if my question has been answered elsewhere or doesn't make much sense. I have recently (after years of suffering) recieved my MRI results & apart from being told I have a condition called Chiari was told to wait until next visit & he would explain more (he was running late). My results say that there is low grade cerebellar tonsillar ectopia with the tonsils located 8mm inferior to the level of the foramen magnum, summary; Chiari Type 1 malformation of the craniocervical junction. I was just wondering if anybody could help interpret this in normal terms, I am booked in after Christmas to see a Neurosergeon but am a mummy of 4 & would just like a bit of info.

Thank you all in advance.

basically that means the cerebellum is hanging down into the back of the upper part of the neck causing you alot of the symptoms you are having...

go to this part of the board http://www.chiarisupport.org/forum/topics/what-types-of-chiari-and-what-it-means-infomation there is a lot of information there for you to look at and get informed. & other information http://www.chiarisupport.org/page/member-resources

Thanks Lisa this info was great:)
