Topamax side effects

Yesterday I started on topamax. By evening my eyes felt pressurized, this morning sore on movement and vision disturbed. Anybody have a problem with topamax? Please let me know. Flerrie

Goodness! Medications are supposed to help people not give them more problems to worry about.

When I talk to people about their medications, I always suggest that they talk to their doctor about side effects but also a pharmacist. I have found it helpful to also talk with a pharmacist about interactions between medications if you are taking more than one. Doctors do not always have time to inform you of all the details and when you should be concerns and contact the physician. I also encourage people to look up whatever medication they are taking on their own using reputable websites - more websites are not better. You are in a more knowledgeable position to ask questions and also decide about the medication usefulness in your own situation once you have evaluated the pros and cons of taking and not taking a medication in discussion with your doctor. Good luck in managing your health.

Whoa! Call your doctor ASAP open angle glaucoma is an all too common side effect. I can’t imagine one dose causing it, but it needs to seperated fro the drug starting to its job which may act that way (its temporary)

It has been a crazy week. Last Wednesday I saw an eye specialist who diagnosed acute closed-angle glaucoma. Both eyes had to be laser treated. 4 to 8 weeks to recovery.
All out there be careful of Topamax.
I only took 25mg once and reacted.

Hi Gabby, one 25mg Topomax and I ended up reacting negatively to it, causing acute closed-angle glaucoma. Emergensy laser in both eyes and now fine, recovering. Bless you

I have been put on topamax in the past. The side effects were so awful I put it down on my records that I was allergic to this medication. I strongly recommend you do the same if you are having all of these effects.

Thanks. Will do. My eye specialist has communicated this to my Neurosurgeon and has told me never to use it again. I reacted very badly to it. I am therefore staying on my previous meds. all the best for you!
