Good morning! 4 years ago I got diagnosed with Type 1 Chiari. 3 years ago I had surgery and it was the best decision I have made. But last year I had a neck infusion surgery and a month later my symptoms for Chiari came back. Worse than before. The surgeon swears it’s not back but I don’t believe him. I’m having a spinal tap done next week to check the pressure in my head. Has anyone else had multi surgeries for this? I’m so frustrated.
I’m so sorry that you’re having an increase in symptoms. While it’s not ideal that your surgeon insists that it can’t be back, it sounds like the doctor is still doing their due diligence to do the testing that is required, so that’s a positive.
Please let us know what the results look like and whether there’s any treatment options

I sure will!! And thank you! I know he is trying it’s just frustrating.
I am sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. My first decompression surgery in 2019 provided significant symptom relief until 2022. Then i had a revision. I had another revision in 2024 and my Fourth revision April 2025!! My symptoms are already back and im just three months post op. I have scar tissue formation and adhesions, this last surgery was spent removing scar tissue!! I have IIH as well. I am done with surgery at this point, and i have loat 30 lbs, and try to get good sleep, sleep in elevated positions and good diet and walking. I take Tylenol and cyclobezaprine. I have had trigger points injections in my neck and occipital muscles. Headache and pain management is a full-time job. Surgery for me was successful at first, but now the scar tissue is a major issue. I hope you get answers and a solution. Wish you the best! Get an image to check for scarring
