I am super excited and a ball of nerves right now. Surgery is less than 2 weeks away. We are flying to WI Chiari Center now instead of driving. My husbands family put together a benefit for us over the weekend. It was a day at the park with $5 plates with the usually hamburgers and hot dogs. They auctioned off desserts, had cake walks and water balloon fights. I am feeling very blessed right now and so thankful for the financial help. I wanted to share in case anyone else was looking for a way to help with surgery or bills. Any last minute advice? I think my list of what to bring is done. They didn’t tell me to cut my hair or anything so I guess they will do that the morning of surgery. I understand I will be in the ICU for about a day then in a regular room after for a total of 5 days. I think they are using a titanium plate? What should I do on the flight home with my hair and incision ? I guess they will wrap it?? Just rambling now. Thanks for listening and any input!
Hey Lyanna...
How wonderful about the benefit! Know that you are being thought of...keep us in the loop. Here for ya!
I will be praying for you. I had my decompression there June last year. Best hospital experience. Keep us posted.
I hope your flight isn't too long. Sitting up gets really tiring really fast. I hope all goes when, you'll be in my thoughts. They shave your hair usually after you are already out. They did for me at least but I would've been an emotional wreck if I was awake lol
Thanks everyone. Ooh I didn’t even think about being awake while they shave my hair. I bet they will knock me out first. I have really long hair and its one of my favorite things so hopefully. My flight will be 3 1/2 hours with a stop in between. So glad we are not driving which would be 14-15 hours with stops. I am a bit nervous about being so far from my Doctor. I am in Oklahoma. Is the post op visit 4,6, or 8 weeks out?
