Ask for those meds! You'll get through this. I feel like we have to stay on the muscle relaxants until our own poor little bodies don't need them anymore.
None of us will need post-op muscle relaxants forever. We will get off of them. But we have to take them for long enough for them to make our own exhausted, stressed-out, frazzled little muscles calm down again. And then, one day, we won't need them as much. A few days later, we'll "forget" that we haven't taken our normal dose, and a few days (weeks?) after that, we'll be back to our new and improved normal.
For me, I kept trying to get off the muscle relaxants, only to find I'd get bad headaches and need them at higher doses for several days to win back to feeling better. Finally, I'm finding my body needs them less (five weeks post-op for me today, without your CSF revision).
I keep a detailed log of which meds I take and when (pain killers, muscle relaxants and an anti-inflammatory). I find it encouraging to look at it over time, and see the overall number of pills trending down. I also notice how MANY days I need to recover, though, if I'm too aggressive in stopping something.
(I've been getting pampered by my mom for the last week on vacation, which was loverly, but I've been thinking lots about you, Becki and hoping you've been improving.)
