When I was 15 I had the decompression, without shrinking the tonsil and entering the dura. Now fast forward 4 years and I am now having the shrinking done. My question for you all is how many surgeries have you had?

Hi Sportcrazed. I also have had no surgeries yet. But, I did want to say that I hope that your recovery from surgery goes well.
Thanks all. To follow-up I have been tested for both scoliosis and a tethered spinal cord, to which both are negative. I do however have basilar invagination and platybasia. The the doctor wants to move forward slowly rather than too fast. The other scenario is that a fusion of the c2-c-3 would be necessary. We believe the need for second surgery is related to growth over my teenage years.
Anyway , I glad to hear that the second procedure went better than the first.
